How do I upload content into my account through the Web?
Getting your stuff on BlueString is as easy as it gets! Let us show you how.

1. Go to http://www.bluestring.com, and click the get started now button.
   
   
2. Enter your screen name or email address as your User Name, enter your password, and click the Sign in now button. Enter your screen name or email address as your User Name, enter your password, and click the Sign in now button.
   
   
3. Click the Upload button at the top right.
   
   
   
   
4. Step 1: When the Upload Tray pops up, click on the Choose Files button.
   
   
   
   
5. Choose the file or files you wish to upload. You can select multiple files by using the Control or Shift keys on your keyboard. Click on the Open button.
   
   
   
   
6. You can remove files from the upload by hitting the remove links to the right of each file name. You can add more files but hitting the Choose More Files button.
   
   
   
   
7. Step 2: Select the folder you wish to upload to by double-clicking it. When you double click on the folder, you will see the name of the folder in the Where to? box. You may also create a new folder by simply typing the name of that folder in the Where to? box.
   
   
   
   
8. Step 3: Click the start upload button to begin uploading.
   
   
   
   
9. After the upload is finished, you will see a confirmation box telling you that your upload is complete. Click on the OK button. You may either choose to upload more files, share them, create with them, or view your upload.

How do I create a show?
So, you've got your stuff and now you want to create a show. With BlueString, you can include not only pictures in a show, but also videos and music, for the ultimate expression of your memories.

Here's how:

1. Click the create button at the top right.
   
   
   
   
2. In the New Show box, type the name of your show.
   
   
   
   
3. You can include photos, videos and music from any of the folders. Select the folder you want to pull files from by double-clicking it.
   
   
   
   
4. Now, simply drag and drop the files into the Timeline box.
   
   
   
   Note: If you have files in other folders you want use for your show, use the "breadcrumbs" at the top left to go back through your folders.
   
   
   
   
5. You can also add a soundtrack for your show. Just drag and drop your music files into the SoundTrack box at the lower right.
   
   
   
   
6. To change the transition effects, click Fade, and in the pop-out, choose your new effect. You can also set the speed of your show by typing in the number of seconds in the Speed: box.
   
   Note: Choosing the Fade effect will get your files to fade in and fade out during the show, and Iris will get your files to zoom in and zoom out. Wipe will cause your files to slide up and slide down.
   
   
   
   
7. You may choose to preview your show to ensure you have what you want. Just click on the Preview button.
   
   
   
   
8. To close out of the preview, hit the close button in the lower right of the player. By selecting edit, you can change your show. You can also select share to save and share your show with others.
   
   
   
   
9. Once you've closed out of preview, you may either save your show or continue making edits.

How do I edit my creations?
Editing creations with BlueString is fun and easy! Just take a look at the steps below to see how you can edit your creations.

1. Click the create tab.
   
   
   
   
2. Select the creation you wish to edit.
   
   
   
   
3. Click the Edit Show link at the top.
   
   
   
   
4. In the Create panel that appears below, here’s what you can do:
   
   
   • Rename your creation
     
     
     
     
   • Remove files you no longer want by clicking the X at the top right of the file.
     
     
     
     
   • Remove soundtracks you no longer want by clicking the X at the top right of the file.
     
     
     
     
   • If you wish to add new files from different folders, use the thread and tabs at the top of the page to toggle.
     
     
     
     
   • Change the transition effect, and alter the speed of your show.
     
     
     
     
5. Once you have finished editing your show, you may preview to confirm the edits.
   
   
   
   
6. Click save to update.

What is String It?™
One of the most enjoyable features of BlueString™ is String It™. With BlueString's unique String It feature, you not only share your creations with people you want to, but your recipients can also contribute their own photos, videos and music to the same creation. Once you share the creation, the recipients of the string will receive an e-mail that contains your show and a notification that they may not only view your creations, but also add to them. They may add their own photos, videos, or music.

So, go ahead! Make a creative story of special events by adding pictures, videos, songs, transition effects and more! Send it to your family and friends, and invite them into the creation process, too.

What content can I share?
You must abide by the BlueString Terms of Service and Guidelines, which govern your use of BlueString. You may only upload or share content that you own or have a right to use. The person or company who creates content owns the copyright to the work and has the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute it. Do not assume that such content, whether posted on the Web or other media, is available for your re-use.

When you use BlueString, you may not violate the rights of others, such as their right of privacy. We expect you to use good judgment and good taste in the content that you upload, post or share on BlueString. Therefore, you should not upload, post or share content that is offensive. Please see our Terms of Service and Guidelines for more information.

How do I share content?
There are many ways to share your content in BlueString. You may share through an e-mail notification, publish or String It. Whichever you choose, please remember you must have the rights to the materials you share.

Before proceeding with the instructions below, please ensure you have signed in to your account by going to http://www.bluestring.com

1. Click the share button at the top right.
   
   
   
   
2. Ensure the email tab is selected.
   
   
   
   
3. Step 1: Drag and drop the folders and shows you wish to share into the Stuff I'm Sharing box.
   
   
   
   
4. Private Sharing: If you want to make your share private, check the Make this share private box.
   
   Notes:
   • If you check the Make this share private option, the recipients will be prompted to log in to ensure their identity before being able to view it. This ensures your creations reach only those people identified by you.
   • Single assets such as images, music and videos cannot be privately shared. Only folders and shows can be shared privately.
   
   
   
   
   
5. Steps 2 and 3: Fill in the e-mail information of your recipients under Where it's Going, and then click Share.

2. Select the string it tab.
   
   
   
   
3. Drag and drop the shows you wish to share into the Stuff I’m Sharing box.
   
   Note: You cannot string folders or files. You may only string shows you've created.
   
   
   
   
4. If you want to make your share private, you may check the Make this share private box.
   
   Note: If you check the Make this share private option, the recipients will be prompted to authenticate their identity before being able to view it. This ensures your creations reach only those people identified by you.
   
   
   
   
5. Fill in the e-mail information of those who you want to be able to add photos, videos or music to the show in the Who can edit box, and then click Share. You may also click the address book link to pull contacts from your address book.

2. Select the publish tab.
   
   
   
   
3. Drag and drop the files, folders or shows you wish to share into the Stuff I'm Publishing box.
   
   
   
   
4. Select the item in the Stuff I'm Publishing box, and BlueString will create the Link and HTML Code that you can then post in other websites.
   
   
   
   
5. To post in other websites, click the appropriate Copy to clipboard button and then paste them in the other sites. After verification, the HTML Link and HTML Embed Code fields will display the updated details.
   
   
   
   
6. You may now take those codes to post or share your videos and pictures!

How do I see or control who I have shared with?

1. To see the status of assets you have shared, click on the down arrow and select Share Status.
   
   
   
   
2. You can see the Links and HTML code at the top of the window. And you can see all people you have shared with via email or String It in the lower half of the window.
   
   
   
   
3. To remove any published links or HTML code, click on remove link and publish code. This will delete the public links to your files or shows. If they have been published anywhere, such as on another web page or in a blog, they will no longer be viewed from those pages.
   
   
   
   
4. To remove a recipient from a share, just click on the "X" icon to the left of the recipient's address. They will no longer be able to view the asset that has been shared, but you can always share with them again.
   
   
   
   
5. When you are done managing your share, click on OK to return to BlueString.

How do I create a folder?
To create a new folder.

1. Click the upload button at the top left.
   
   
   
   
2. Click the Choose Files button, navigate to the desired file, and then click Open to upload the file to your new folder.
   
   
   
   
3. In the Where to? box, type the name of the new folder.
   
   
   
   
4. Click the start upload button.
   
   
   
   

You’ve just created your new folder. Go ahead and create as many folders as you want as you upload all your favorite pictures, videos and music.

How do I rename or delete a folder?
Renaming a folder

Just click on the folder name, and you’ll be presented with a box in which you can type the new name for your folder. After typing, you may click anywhere outside the box for the new name to be updated.





Deleting a folder

If you wish to delete a folder:

1. Click the down arrow on the folder, and select Delete.
   
   
   
   
2. Click Yes when prompted.

Search bar in BlueString
You can also search the Web from BlueString.

In the upper right corner, you can search the Web for anything and everything. To do that, simply enter the keywords in the Search bar, and hit the Search button. Your search results will appear in a new screen.

How do I change the folder view?
BlueString allows you to display your folders as thumbnails or lists. Simply click the buttons shown below to set your view.

How do I navigate through my Folders, Files and Shows?

1. To view your Folders and Files, click on the uploads tab.
   
   
   
   
2. To dig deeper into a folder, simply double click on the selected folder.
   
   
   
   
3. As you double click on folders, you will see the path you have taken via the "breadcrumbs" just below the uploads tab.
   
   
   
   
4. To navigate backwards to go to the highest level folders, select the "breadcrumb" of the Folder you want to go to.
   
   
   
   
5. To view your creations, simply click on the creations tab.

What is BlueString AutoCopy?
BlueString AutoCopy is a special tool that enables you to automatically upload your photos, videos and music. You can avoid manual uploads from now on. When you set up Auto Upload, everything in your My Pictures, My Videos, and My Music folders on your PC can be automatically uploaded to BlueString every time you log into Windows.

1. Click the Upload button at the top right.
   
   
   
   
2. In the Upload well, select the Click here link to learn more about automatically uploading your files.
   
   
   
   Note: you can also go directly http://www.bluestring.com to learn more and download BlueString AutoCopy.
3. Read the steps on the information page, and click on the download installer button to begin the installation process.
   
   
   
   
4. Select whether you want to Save the software or Run immediately. If you choose to save the software, select where you want to save it. Once it is downloaded and saved, double click on the AutoCopy set up icon to begin the installation process.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
5. Click the Next button to proceed with the installation.
   
   
   
   
6. Please read the Disclosure and End User License Agreement (EULA). Select the I accept the terms of the license agreement radio button, then hit Next.
   
   
   
   
7. Click on the Install button.
   
   
   
   
8. Click on the Finish button. Your computer will need to restart in order to complete the installation process.
   
   
   
   
9. Once your computer has restarted go to the Windows Start menu, go to My Programs, select Xdrive, then AutoCopy.
   
   
   
   
10. Enter your BlueString User Name and password.
    
    
    
    
11. Select the folders from which you want files to be automatically uploaded to you BlueString account.
    
    
    
    
12. Then hit the OK button. All of your photos, videos and music files that you add to you're My Pictures, My Music and My Videos folders on your Windows PC will be automatically preserved in your BlueString account. Say goodbye to manual uploads!

How can I uninstall BlueString Auto Upload?
If you wish to uninstall your BlueString Auto Upload copy, follow the instructions below for your Operating System (OS).

1. null
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Select the BlueString Auto Upload program, and then click Change/Remove.
4. Click the Change/Remove button to confirm.
5. Click Next to begin.
6. When prompted, click Finish to close out of the window.

1. Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
2. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
3. Select the BlueString Auto Upload program, and then click the Uninstall/Change button at the top.
4. If prompted by the User Account Control box, click Continue.
5. Click Uninstall to begin.
6. When prompted, click Finish to close out of the window.
